We've used triclopyr for a few years on stubborn invasives - bittersweet, autumn olive, honeysuckle, barberry, buckthorn and multiflora rose - with 100% success. We use it without dilution via a 100ml syringe on a cut stump any time of year, but not within 6 hours of rainfall in the forecast. I've used it a couple of times as a diluted foliar spray with surfactant and dye, but conditions have to be just right and there better not be any non-target broadleaves in the neighborhood.
