Penkoted Grass Seed


Certified Sahara Bermudagrass is a very drought tolerant variety that is bred to grow greener and finer than common bermudagrasses. It offers excellent tolerance to foot traffic and is a great choice for a warm season, sunny lawn.

Climatic Zones: 2,3,5,8,9,10,11,12

Seeding Rates: 0.75-2 lb/1000 sqft (New Turf Applications)
Soil: Well drained to clay; pH of 5.5-8.
Temperature: 65°F or greater (equals 80 degrees F or more consistent day highs in temperature)
Sowing Time: Summer
Planting Depth: 1/16 inch
Fertilizer: 0.5-0.9 lb. Nitrogen/1000 sqft
Germination: 10-14 Days
Water: Keep moist until grass is 3 inches tall
First Mowing: When grass is 3 inches tall
Maintenance:
  • Height: 1.5-3 inches
  • Fairway Height: 0.5 inches (increases management requirements)
  • Fertilizer: 3-5 lb Nitrogen/1000 sqft a year. Apply during active growth (Summer)
  • Mowing Frequency: 2 times/week during active growth and remove no more than 1/3 of the leaf per mowing

The 3500 sq ft yard has to be tilled and prepared.  But first, temperatures need to stabilize above 85 deg.  This is West Texas and that should happen by Tuesday, May 10 at 11:27am!  
Until all of that happens, I can't say anything about your product except that it was very well packaged and arrived before it was due.  Our extension agent recommended Sahara as a seed that would well out here, so we are looking forward to the work, and the results.
